Shree Nanda Mithai Bhandar
Mamadugalli, Mangalbazar, Lalitpur
-
Shree Nanda Mithai Bhandar is a traditional confectionery / “mithai pasal” located in a small alley behind Krishna Mandir, in the lane called Mo: Madu Galli (also spelled “Momarugalli”) / Mangal Bazaar, in Patan Durbar Square area, Lalitpur (near Patan).
-
The shop traces its roots many generations back: the founders were from the halwai (sweet‑maker) community, and over five‑six generations the family has carried on the trade.
-
Traditional Newari mithai & snacks — items like lakhamari, jeri / jeri‑swari, various kinds of barfi (often made with khuwa / milk solids), laddoo, haluwa, fini, and other culturally rooted sweetmeats.
-
Their sweets are often freshly prepared in‑house — you can sometimes see halwais working on dough, frying/rolling sweets, or preparing barfi/syrup behind the counter.
-
Because of their traditional methods and use of ghee / khuwa, the sweets tend to have a distinct rich flavour and texture — creamy, milky barfi; crisp lakhamari; and syrupy jeri that many locals favor.
