Badri ko Halwai Pasal was established in 1909, over a century ago.

The shop’s founder was from a family of traditional confectioners (halwais / sweet‑makers). According to family history: a woman from the then‑renowned confectioner clan started the shop to cater to the sweets demands of the palace of the then‑Rana regime (near the palace at Jawalakhel).

The name “Badri ko Halwai” — meaning “Badri’s Sweet Shop / Halwai Shop” — came much later: about 15 years ago, the family officially named the shop after their father, to honour him.

The shop is still run by descendants of the founder — the same family (currently 4th/5th generation) is managing and making sweets there.
