Full Job Description
1. Environmental Compliance and Approvals:
- Oversee the environmental impact assessments (EIA) and initial environmental examinations (IEE) for project and transmission line approval.
- Coordinate with relevant government bodies such as DOED, MoFE, and other agencies for environmental and social approvals.
- Ensure submission and approval of required documents like EIA/IEE and Environmental Management Plans (EMP).
- Work with external consultants to expedite approvals.
- Manage documentation related to land use, tree cutting, and explosives for compliance with legal regulations.
2. Regulatory and Legal Compliance:
- Ensure project activities align with legal and regulatory standards for environmental and social aspects.
- Track changes in environmental regulations and policies that may impact the project.
- Handle regulatory submissions, contracts, and legal documentation related to ESG.
- Coordinate with legal teams to address compliance issues promptly.
3. Environmental Monitoring During Construction:
- Implement environmental management systems and programs to ensure compliance.
- Monitor air, water, noise, and other environmental factors per approved EIA/IEE requirements.
- Ensure mitigation measures are followed on-site in collaboration with contractors and site managers.
Job Specification
- Experience: Extensive experience in public relations, conflict resolution, and land acquisition, preferably in the hydropower sector.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven experience in conflict resolution and managing sensitive issues effectively.
- Knowledge of local languages and cultural nuances is a plus.
